Camp History

It was 1992 when my father, a Wisconsin Water Ski Hall of Fame Inductee, mentioned off the cuff, “Why don’t you start a water ski school?”

I remember the first year, I was 16 years old at the time, we had one customer and I was so excited! The gentleman was also excited with what he learned, and I remember being thrilled with his enthusiasm toward what I was able to teach him. Slowly over the next four years we started seeing more new and repeat customers coming through the door.

In 1997, while I was working toward my bachelor’s degree in Engineering at the University of South Florida, I won the WWA Wakeboard Worlds in Orlando in the Men’s I Division. That summer my mom suggested that we offer an all inclusive wakeboard camp in addition to the day lessons. This adventure also started small, with three campers the first year that we housed on our 48’ houseboat. I was still competing at Pro Tour events every weekend, and catching red eye flights back home Sunday evening for coaching the next morning at camp. After a few more years, camp was expanding quickly and we needed another towboat and another coach. Zach, a long time student came on board with us and instructor on our second boat.

In 1999 I married my lovely wife Rhonda, she always loves being with people and took on the job of taking reservations, book keeping, cooking, cleaning, and helping with anything. Through the years the camp has grown, but our love for coaching and being out on the water with students has never changed.

Camp Information

For the past 20 years the Gordy Bubolz Wakeboard School has built a reputation for providing the best wakeboard instruction at an exceptional value. We offer coaching programs for all ages and experience levels, from beginners to World Champions. We use the latest coaching techniques, and world class towboats from Correct Craft to help you take your riding to the next level.

We offer Half Day and Full Day sessions, Mini Camps, as well as the All Inclusive 6-day 5 night Wakeboard camps. The 6 day wakeboard summer camps start Sunday June 15th, and continue every following Sunday through the summer.

Accommodations are provided on a 48’ houseboat, or a newly built lakeside Log cabin. We are excited to be using a 2014 Nautique G23 as the camps’ official towboat.  We also have an older Hydrodyne Grand Sport that has a smaller  wake for teaching beginning wakeboard fundamentals.

When you come to the camp you can expect world-class coaching, excellent riding conditions on the wind protected Wolf River, an awesome lakefront facility, Trampoline training, Free Hyperlite wakeboard Demos, experienced and fun coaches, and evening activities. We hope that you can join us for the ultimate week of wakeboarding and achieve your goals at the Gordy Bubolz Wakeboard Camp.

Our goal is to teach you how to safely progress in wakeboarding, while having fun out on the water. Unlike some schools, we don’t overcrowd our boats, taking a maximum of 4 students per boat so that each rider can get up to four twenty five minute sets in a day. We offer you more wakeboard time than any other camp on the market, better coaching, better equipment and facilities, all for hundreds of dollars less than comparable camps.
